Let's talk Alice (in Wonderland)

Image
Just a quick point I want to make before I get into this post: I normally write my first drafts in Microsoft Word, and then I copy & paste them into Blogger where I read through and edit them. Something happens in the formatting when I copy & paste them that messes with my paragraphs, and I don't know how to fix it in Blogger... So, sorry lmao.              So, I recently read Wonderland by Juno Dawson and, while this post isn’t specifically about that book, it inspired this post. What I basically want to talk about is Alice in Wonderland as a general concept. I realise that’s vague, and I don’t know how to be more specific, I just have thoughts and I’m going to go through them. You’re welcome. Also, this post is going to be a mess, I’m saying that now. It’s going to be more of a stream of consciousness than anything else, so, good luck making sense of it.           I will say, just as a broad sweeping stat...

I think I'd like Lunch With the Do-Nothings at the Tammy Dinette (by Killian B Brewer)

I promise that there is going to be some other kind of content on this blog other than reviews, it just so happens that reviews and rambles are the way I’m going until something more substantial builds up for those other posts. Still, I read Lunch With the Do-Nothings at the Tammy Dinette by Killian B Brewer and I have thoughts about the book.             Where I’m going to start is that, and I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before but, not every book needs to be grand. Like, not every book needs to be this massive thing with a massive concept. A book can just be, for lack of better phrasing, a nice little thing. It could have a simple plot that’s concentrated in its own little world. And that’s exactly the kind of vibe I got from this book. It wasn’t huge, concept-wise, but it didn’t need to be. Honestly, if it was grander, then I don’t know whether it would have worked.         ...

The Last Romeo by Justin Myers was definitely a book that I read...

So, I read Justin Myers’ 2018 novel, The Last Romeo , recently…             I can’t really think of any witter opener for this, so I just going to be up front and say that this isn’t going to be the most positive review of the book. As of me writing this review, the book has a 4.3-star rating on Amazon from 227 global ratings, so this book clearly has an audience, I just don’t think that I was that audience. So, for my review, I’ll start with what I liked about the book.             It was well-written, for one. I’m not the most keen-eyed reader, as in, I won’t always notice when there’s a single comma out of place or if there is something missing from a sentence. But there have been books that I’ve noticed errors like that in, and if it’s something I’ve noticed, then it’s a glaring error. This book had none of those. Like, there weren’t any sentences that I had to st...
