Books that just are...

Image
So, it’s no secret that not every book is made equal. Not every book is amazing, not every book is terrible. Some books just… are. They’re the books that you read and after you’ve finished them you think, “Well, that’s that book read,” and it made you feel nothing overwhelming. Like, you didn’t dislike it to the point you have to stop reading it, but it wasn’t so good that you couldn’t stop reading it. You finished it, and you moved on with your life and never thought about it again. And that’s exactly what this post is about, some of the books that I’ve read that just were. I read them and once I was done, I thought to myself, “That was definitely a book that exists”, and then when on to read something better. For the video version of this post (CLICK HERE) Now, before I get into the books for me that “just are”, I would like to mention that this is all my opinion - my  subjective  opinion. I feel like I need to mention this because what I might have felt was a book that didn...

Call me Nicki Minaj because, no, you don't understand... I'm OBSESSED (with 2gether)

Originally, I thought I was going to manage to get this post up a week after the last one, but it turned out that the end of Volume 1 of 2gether  by JittiRain ended on a “To Be Continued” moment part way through the story, so, obviously, I had to read Volume 2 to be able to properly make this post. So, instead of this just being about Volume 1, like it was going to be, this is going to cover both Volume 1 and 2. If you want to watch the video version of this video (CLICK HERE) So, I watched 2gether before I read it. And I won’t lie, I watched the whole thing twice through in the span of two weeks. I think that says exactly how I feel about the show, and since it was a show that I was Nicki Minaj obsessed with, I ended up Googling it and finding out that there were novels. I then downloaded both Volumes 1 and 2 on Kindle – because they were only available in the UK on Kindle. So, the Amazon listing for Volume 1, it said it was 650 pages… I don’t know how Kindle pages translate to ...

My validation was Here the Whole Time (by Vitor Martins)

Image
I recently read Here the Whole Time by Vitor Martins, and I’ve been trying to come up with a witty introduction to this post. I can’t think of one, so this is the intro… I’m going to talk about the book now :)     Also, for those who want the video version of this post ( CLICK HERE ).      So, my first point I’d like to bring up is that it was nice to see a bigger protagonist for once. I feel like, unless otherwise stated, you’re just going to assume that they are slimmer. So, having that explicit statement was nice. Like, the first line, the first sentence, was, “I am fat.” And then like two lines later it said, “I take up space in the street”, and God… Did that line hit me? Yes. Yes, it did. Not so much right now thanks to Miss Rona, but whenever I used to get on a bus or a train, I would shove myself into the corner of a window seat, or like, perch on the edge of an aisle seat, just so I wouldn’t take up too much space for the person sat next to me. So… ye...
