Turns out there's a limit to The Infinite Noise

Image
So, today I’m talking about The Infinite Noise by Lauren Shippen, and I have no real cutesy intro as to how I came across this book, it’s just one that popped up into my sphere and when I read the blurb I was like, “Wig, okay, I’ll read that”, and now we’re here. Also, this book came out in 2019, so I’m happy leaving spoilers in – even though all the other times I’ve left spoilers in, they’ve never been that big. Also, because there wasn’t a warning in the front of this book, I’m going to mention it. There is brief mention of self-harm in this book. Also also, if you want the video version of this post (CLICK HERE) But our lovely blurb tells us that Caleb, an Atypical, was born with enhanced abilities. He feels the emotions of everyone around him but keeps getting pulled into the emotional orbit of one classmate, Adam. Adam’s feelings are big and all-consuming, but they fit together with Caleb’s feelings in a way that he’s never experienced before. In a way that feels right. So, bas...

Golden hour for the Golden Boys

Image
We’ve hit another era. One happened, I’m pretty sure around this time last year as well, where there have been a bunch of books published, or close to publication all really close together in March and April. Anyway, this first one is Golden Boys by Phil Stamper. Okay, so our lovely little Blurbara Walters tells us that Gabriel, Reese, Sal and Heath are best friends, and that when you grow up in the middle of nowhere, being queer and having big dreams will bond you for life. This summer, for the first time, they’ll get to follow their dreams, but they’ll be doing it apart. It’s time to discover who they are, and who they really want to be. Will the distance divide them or draw them closer than ever? And that told me next to nothing about the plot, other than that it was likely a coming-of-age-type of story since it’s about discovering who they are. That suggests that, but it doesn’t say how . A review and ramble about I'm So (Not) Over You

Image
So, first up we must thank Twitter for teaching me about this book’s existence. I feel like authors on Twitter, and the recommended tab on *mazon is where I find out about a lot of books. And Twitter is where I found out about I’m So (Not) Over You by Kosoko Jackson. I do want to mention that this post will contain no spoilers about the book since, as of me writing this, it’s not been out for even a few weeks. Also, if you want the video version of this post (CLICK HERE) Anyway, our blurbaroni pizza says that it’s been months since aspiring journalist Kian Andrews has heard from his ex-boyfriend, Hudson Rivers (what a name), but an urgent text has them meeting up at a cafĂ©. Hudson has a favour to ask Kian, and that is the be his fake boyfriend while his parents are in town, and Kian agrees. Kian then ends up as Hudson’s date to the wedding of the season, and if Kian goes, he’ll help Hudson preserve appearances and he’ll get the opportunity to network with some of the biggest n...

If We Were Us: A Queer Plotline For Straight People

Image
At first, this book really had me going. I mean that in the sense of my copy of If We Were Us (released 2020) by K.L. Walther is a hardback, and hardbacks tend to have their blurbs in the dust covers. Mine has a bit of writing on the back, that I, at first, thought was the blurb, but was more of just one of those little paragraphs that’s meant to pitch the book. Also, I’m accidentally two books in a row at boarding schools. But the blurb tells us that everyone at the prestigious Bexley School believes that Sage Morgan and Charlie Carmichael are meant to be. Even though Charlie seems to have a new girlfriend every month, and Sage has never had a real relationship. Their friends seem to think it’s a matter of time until they end up together. However, when Luke Morrissey shows up on campus, things get shook up. He and Charlie are immediately drawn to each other, so Sage is then like, “Lol, I can spend time with Charlie’s twin brother, Nick.” Charlie is afraid of what others will t...
